“First Folk Tale” festival held in Tartous

Our heritage is not just something that we should know or understand, but it is also something that we should share with our children to value and enjoy in the present and to preserve and past to the future generation.

The branch of the Vanguards of the Ba’ath Organization in Tartous has recently held the “First Folk Tale” festival at the handicraft market on the corniche in the province.  

The cultural event was held with the participation of the Association of Handicrafts of the Union of Craftsmen, the Arabic Language Empowerment Committee and the  “Children of Love” Association for children with special needs.

It included an exhibition for children, and a variety of artistic, literary and cultural performances in addition to presenting traditional food.

Nsreen Al-Issa, Head of the Culture Office at Tartous branch of the Vanguards of Al-Baath organization stressed in a statement to the Syrian Arab News agency (SANA) that the festival aims at developing children’s talents and linking them to their cultural heritage.

For his part, Nazmiyya Ismael, Head of the handicraft market, pointed out that holding the festival within the market has a special significance as it introduces heritage to the children to  play a key role  in preserving and conveying their deep-rooted heritage.

A number of children presented a variety of performances, including reciting poems and tales of grandparents, in addition to solo playing and a theatrical performance.
