MOSCOW, Feb.21, (ST)-The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov started on Monday their talks in Moscow, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The agency quoted Al-Miqdad as saying that the main goal of Syria and Russia is to achieve stability and peace all over the world, referring to Russia’s key role in this filed in the Middle East and in Europe as well.
The Minister also affirmed that the campaign being waged by the West against Russia is similar to the one that was waged against Syria.
For his part, Lavrov said: “We will go ahead with our joint work to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria within the framework that preserves its sovereignty, safety and territorial integrity.”
During a joint press conference held after the talks, Lavrov stressed the need to offer humanitarian aid to those who are in need in Syria far from politicization and with the contribution of international community in reconstruction process.
He condemned Israeli attacks on Syrian territories, saying that these attacks destabilize the region.
“The Syrian-Russian relations enhance as the two countries believe in improving situation in the region and the world as well,” he declared.
Western economic sanctions on Syria are immoral
Yesterday, Al-Miqdad told RT that prolonging the terrorist war on Syria would allow more time to harm it and pass some conspiracies against it, especially by the Turkish regime, which occupies parts of its northwest, and by the United States, which occupies other parts of its northeastern and supports separatist movements in it.
He added that the intensity of the war that Syria was subjected to began to decline due to the steadfastness of the Syrian Arab Army and the people’s support for its leadership, pointing out that Syria seeks to end the Turkish and American occupation of some areas by all means and stop their theft of Syrian resources.
In this context, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov stressed that the presence of the US troops in Syria is illegal and it is clear that their battle there is not against terrorism.
