Party of the European Left condemns coercive measures imposed by the U.S. on Syria

The Party of the European Left (PEL) has condemned the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, stressing that they violate the UN Charter.

“The European Left rejects and condemns the coercive measures imposed by the United States on Syria, Cuba, Venezuela and several other countries because these measures blatantly violate human rights and directly affect peoples,” the party’s Vice-President Maite Mola said in reply to a question by SANA correspondent in Havana during a news conference held by the party’s delegation currently visiting Cuba.

In the same context, Member of the delegation and former Foreign Minister of Greece George Katrougalos also said that he is against imposing coercive measures on sovereign countries, calling for respecting the UN Charter so that all peoples of the world can live in peace.

During their meeting with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, members of the delegation voiced their solidarity with Cuba in the face of the unfair US blockade.
