Tehran (ST): Mohammad Eslami, the Iranian president’s assistant and head of the Atomic Energy Organization, stated that his country is capable of producing nuclear fuel in various proportions with ease, pointing out that the nuclear industry in Iran is on the verge of great development and growth.
Eslami said in a statement to Iranian television: “We started the renaissance of the localization of the nuclear industry, and there are at the present time about 200 nuclear medicine centers in the country that benefit from radioactive medicines produced by the Atomic Energy Organization, and about one million patients receive services through it annually through the treatment centers.”
Islami stressed that the Tehran reactor is a research reactor and has no uses except for humanitarian purposes, explaining that the nuclear fuel used in the reactor is enriched by 20%.
