Syria renews its condemnation of US embargo on Cuba

DAMASCUS, Feb.7, (ST)- Syria has renewed its condemnation of the unjust embargo being imposed by the United States on Cuba, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Monday.

The statement underlined that the US embargo on Cuba violates the international law and the most basic human rights, calling on the international community to end this economic terrorism, which constitutes an act of genocide.

“Syria condemns in the strongest terms the immoral, criminal embargo imposed by the US on Cuba for more than 60 years which aims at restricting the Cuban people’s legitimate rights in defending their country’s sovereignty and stability away from the US hegemony,” the statement added.

It expressed confidence that Cuba, which is facing this illegal embargo, will maintain its sovereignty and will foil the goals of this blockade.
