International magazine posts report on the success of treating difficult ulcerative colitis case by biological drugs at Damascus Hospital
The “International Medicine” Magazine has recently posted a report about the success of a major hospital in Damascus in treating a 34-year old man suffering from ulcerative colitis, COVID-19 and SARS-COV-2 through biological medicines.
Director of the General Authority of Damascus Hospital (Al-Mujtahid), Dr. Ahmad Abbas, who supervised the treatment said that the patient came to the hospital with acute ulcerative colitis accompanied with “Covid 19” and SARS-Cov-2. He also had repeated bloody diarrhea, high fever and sever pain in the abdomen.
Six months before entering the hospital, the patient was diagnosed with colon on the left side, Dr Abbas added.
According to Dr. Abbas, the medical team at the hospital’s Digestive Diseases Department conducted necessary medical tests and made an integrated study of the patient’s condition. The team decided to treat the case through biological drugs under the supervision of specialists as the patient didn’t respond to the treatment by a high dose of steroids.
The treatment was conducted successfully, the patient became in a stable condition and recovered, Dr. Abbas added.
