The Prime Minister, Engineer Hussein Arnous, met this morning, the Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting dealt with the mechanisms of cooperation between the two countries, especially in water resources, and the importance of joint coordination to preserve the water rights of the two countries in the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in accordance with the international laws and the signed agreements in a way that achieves the common interest of the two brotherly peoples in Syria and Iraq and contributes to enhancing water security in the light of climate changes in the region. .
Engineer Arnous pointed to the need to open broader horizons for cooperation in the commercial and economic fields, simplify land transport and shipping procedures through border crossings, enhance cooperation between economic activities, establish joint investment projects, and organize more specialized exhibitions that promote the products of the two countries.
For his part, the Iraqi Minister drew attention to the importance of continuous cooperation between Iraq and Syria in various fields, especially in water resources, to ensure their rights, and to ensure Syria’s participation in the water conference that will be held in Baghdad next month, expressing his country’s readiness to overcome any obstacles to developing cooperation relations between the two countries in a way that best achieves mutual benefits.
