Prisoner’s Club: More than half of prisoners in “Ofer” detention camp are infected with Coronavirus

The Palestinian Prisoners Club announced that more than half of the prisoners detained in Ofer detention camp are infected with the Corona virus.

Wafa News Agency quoted the Club as saying in a statement today, , that the occupation authorities are turning the epidemic into a tool of abuse by restricting the prisoners under the pretext of the spread of the epidemic, in addition to depriving them of treatment and the necessary preventive measures.

The club indicated that the policy of the occupation authorities in withholding information related to the prisoners, in addition to the failure to conduct medical examinations for them, led to the inability of any human rights body to count the number of people infected with the virus since its spread in the prisons.

The Prisoners’ Club announced late last month that more than 100 prisoners had been infected with the Corona virus in Ofer detention camp, in which the occupation is holding about 1,000 Palestinians.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health constantly warns that the international silence towards the policy of medical neglect pursued by the occupation against the prisoners means an inevitable death for them.
