“Paula Panchi ” band presents Indian culture in Syria

Celebrating  the 73rd anniversary of the Indian Republic Day and the 75th anniversary of its independence, the Indian Paula Panchi band  has recently performed a  musical dance concert at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus  to  reflect  the culture of the India , which is home to cultures and traditions dating back thousands of years.

The cultural event  was held by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in Damascus in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture at Al Assad Opera House.

The band performed  a series of Indian folk dances and songs  that  are performed during celebrations and weddings accompanied by traditional instruments  which are part of  the deep-rooted traditions in India .

During the concert, the band was keen on presenting  the traditions of the spring and harvest seasons, festivals and cultural programs.

 

In a speech during the event , the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mshaweh hailed  the deep-rooted cultural  relations between Syria and India throughout history in the field of conveying  knowledge, science and ancient heritage to the whole world, stressing  the impact of the Arab civilization in India.

In a similar speech, Indian Ambassador in Syria Mahender Singh Kanyal  explained that India is a  pot of diverse philosophies, ideas and beliefs during a long-term period of peaceful coexistence in light of the strength of talents and achieving many developments in the world of technology, research and innovation, stressing India firmly supports the Syrian people and his country’s commitment to providing  all humanitarian aid and participating  in the reconstruction.

In a statement to SANA, the band’s coach, Parvinder Singh Panchi, expressed the band members’  happiness at presenting different  performances to transfer the intangible cultural heritage of his country to the most important theaters of Damascus, as the world capital of Arab culture.

Meanwhile , in another celebration   that combined music, dance and singing at Dar Al-Assad for  Culture in Lattakia province , the Paula Panchi band presented different performances in a distinguished state of cultural and artistic richness.

The Indian ambassador  considered that the celebrations in Damascus ,   Lattakia  and Homes  are an opportunity to express  love for the Syrian people and  introduce Indian culture, referring to the preparation for carrying out many other activities and performances  in  Syria in addition to the Indian  Film Festival in  summer within  the framework of a new stage of strengthening cultural relations between the two countries.

It is worth mentioning that Paula  Panchi band is one of the most popular dance bands  in North India and has a unique style while maintaining the basics of folklore in India.
