Kılıcdaroglu: AK Party spies on opposition

ANKARA, Feb.2, (ST)- Kemal Kılıcdaroglu, the leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), the largest opposition party in Turkey, has affirmed that the government of the Justice and Development Party [AK Parti]spies on and develops its methods to include monitoring the opposition with cameras.

Media outlets quoted Kılıçdaroğlu as saying, in response to a leaked video of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, as he was having dinner with the British ambassador in a restaurant: “Personal rights are guaranteed in the constitution, but the government is relentlessly violating them… We thought they were just spying on our phones. But this incident revealed that they are following us through cameras as well,” vowing to present this incident to the Parliament’s agenda for discussion.

On the other hand, a recent opinion poll shows that if there is a second round of the presidential elections, which includes the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the President of the Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the latest will win.

The opinion poll conducted by the “Gazeci” Research Company indicated that the CHP leader would beat Erdogan by nearly 2%, indicating that he would receive 43.7% of the vote, while Erdogan would receive only 41.2% if there was a second round of elections.

The opposition in Turkey is calling for early elections, while Erdogan strongly rejects this and insists on holding them on time in 2023.
