The State Incentive Award for 2021 Accorded to Writer Safwan Ibrahim and Musician Adnan Fathallah

The Ministry of Culture awarded the State Incentive Award for the year 2021 to the writer Safwan Ibrahim and the musician Adnan Fathallah in appreciation of their creative, intellectual and artistic contribution.

The writer Safwan Ibrahim, born in Latakia in 1978, joined the Air Defense College and graduated as a pilot officer in 1999. He began his journey with writing in 2013 after the martyrdom of his brother in Raqqa. He won the Ministry of Awqaf award in the Prophet of Mercy competition, and the Hanna Mina Award for the year 2017 for the novel (Commandments from the Hospital for the Insane) and the Social Solidarity Award in Corona time for novelistic creativity on the novel (The Call of Souls).

 Ibrahim made the following statement: “I am happy to receive this award, which I owe to Syria in view of the fact that Syria gave me everything that is wonderful in my life, from the honor of joining the ranks of its great army to the honor of going into the field of culture to present me with the Syrian highest awards.”

Ibrahim continued, “This award makes me feel proud because I belong to a great country whose enemies were not able to destroy the bridge of authentic civilization, and the cruelty of war was not able to stand in the way of culture.

Maestro Adnan Fathallah is the leader of the Syrian National Ensemble for Arab Music and the Dean of the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus.

Maestro Fathallah considered that this award has a moral and professional value and gives him a great motivation to provide more in order to build the country, preserve the Syrian identity, and present a creative product in cooperation with Syrian musicians.

It is noteworthy that the award comes in accordance with the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 11 of 2012 to create the State Appreciation and Encouragement Awards in the field of literature and art for creators, thinkers and artists, in appreciation of their creative, intellectual and artistic contribution.
