On January 31st, Director of the Department of Asia and North Africa at the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pradeep Singh affirmed that relations between India and Syria are built on firm foundations, and their positions are identical in various fields.
During a farewell ceremony held by the Indian Foreign Ministry for Syria’s ambassador to India, Dr. Riyad Abbas, on the occasion of the end of his duties, Singh said: “ Distinguished ambassadors always leave the makings for a solid foundation in the host country, upon which new bridges and channels are built, and relations between countries are opened to broader fields, and this is the Syrian-Indian case in the last years.”
Singh expressed his satisfaction with the continuation of the fruitful cooperation between the two countries, stressing his keenness on continuous communication between them at all levels.
In turn, Ambassador Abbas affirmed the continuation of the fruitful cooperation between Syria and India, noting New Delhi’s firm stances towards Syria and its support in international forums.
Ambassador Abbas expressed Syria’s thanks to India for the humanitarian aid it provides, whether medicine, food, scholarships and others.
The ceremony was attended by Sunil Kumar, Deputy Director of the Asia and North Africa Department at the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a number of diplomats at the ministry, as well as the ambassadors of Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine.
