On January 30th, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Miqdad met with Paraguayan Ambassador in Beirut Fernando Parisi and Chargé d’Affairs of his country’s embassy in Damascus.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance and develop bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields.
During the meeting, Minister Miqdad stressed Syria’s keenness to develop bilateral relations with Paraguay and Latin American countries in all fields.
Minister Miqdad pointed to the challenges and threats that Syria faced over the past years, foremost of which are terrorism, the illegal US and Turkish presence on part of the Syrian territories, and the attacks of the Israeli occupation.
Minister Miqdad referred to the economic disasters caused by the unilateral economic measures imposed by the United States of America and the European Union on the Syrian people, especially on children, women and the neediest groups.
Minister Miqdad praised the positions of Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Bentz by launching diplomatic relations with the Syrian Arab Republic.
For his part, Ambassador Parisi expressed the aspirations and desire of the Paraguayan people and leadership to strengthen bilateral relations with Syria and push them forward at all political and economic levels.
Ambassador Parisi referred to the indications of Syria’s victory over terrorism the stability of the situation in it that he noticed during his visit.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ayman Sousan, Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and Honorary Consul of Paraguay, Muhammad Qattan, Abeer Al-Jarf, Director of the America Department, and RuaSharbaji from the Executive Support Department in the ministry.
