Syria-UNICEF Relief Cooperation Discussed

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Relief cooperation between the Syrian government and the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF)  was the main topic discussed on Wednesday between Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs and Local Administration Minister Omar Ghalawanji  and the Deputy  Chairman of the UNICEF Executive Bureau Yuka Brant.

Ghalawanji stressed the efforts, being exerted by the Syrian government in cooperation with the international organizations acting in Syria in the humanitarian and relief field, aiming to surpass the negative impacts of the crisis in Syria. He referred in this respect to the government’s keen effort to establish a number of temporary sheltering centers for the displaced families and to provide the basic needs of the victims of terrorism.

He reiterated the importance of cooperation between the government and the UNICEF in responding to the urgent needs of citizens.

For her part, Brant appreciated the Syrian government’s relief and humanitarian efforts as well as its keenness to make positive cooperation with international organizations, particularly the UNICEF,  a success.

The UN official expressed the organization’s willingness to implement specialized workshops in the domains of health, education and sold wastes, aiming to assess damage caused to these sectors and find solutions.
