Diplomat: Indian-Syrian relation to witness great developments in the coming months

DAMASCUS, Jan.26, (ST)-The Indian Ambassador in Damascus Mahender Singh Kanyal described the relations between his country and Syria as historical and deeply-rooted that are boosted in political, economic and cultural fields.
 
In a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) during a ceremony held by the Indian embassy in Damascus on Wednesday on the73th anniversary of the Republic Day, Kanyal said: “We are proud of the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries, and the we will witness great developments in several fields in the coming months.” 
 
He added that India will continues to provide humanitarian and technical support to friendly Syria, in addition to pushing economic cooperation forward through businessmen in both countries.
 
The ambassador pointed out that it is expected to witness mutual visits between the two countries during the coming period besides incensement in the number of scholarships for Syrian students offered by India and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations to reach about 400 scholarships.
