Guterres condemns Saudi-led coalition’s airstrikes on a prison in Yemen’s Saada

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the air strikes conducted on Friday by the Saudi-led coalition on the central prison in the Yemeni province of Saada that killed scores of people, calling for holding the perpetrators of this crime accountable.

 Dozens of people were killed and wounded in these airstrikes, Guterres’ spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement on Friday, adding that further deadly airstrikes on other areas in Yemen also resulted in scores of civilian casualties including children.

 “An airstrike on telecommunications facilities in Hodeidah has also significantly disrupted vital internet services across much of the country,” Dujarric said, pointing out that the Secretary-General calls for prompt, effective and transparent investigations into these incidents to ensure accountability.”

He reiterated that the attacks that target civilians and civil infrastructure are banned by the Humanitarian International law.

This dawn, the Saudi regime’s air force conducted airstrikes on Saada Central prison, leading to the martyrdom of 70 people and injury of 138 others. Other airstrikes also targeted the Communications building in Al-Hodeida city, killing 6 people including three children.

Iran condemns Saudi-led airstrikes against Yemen

Iran has condemned the deadly Saudi-led airstrikes in Yemen, warning that the attacks that killed dozens of people have made achieving the peace in the country more difficult.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a statement on Saturday that the continuous attacks of the Saudi-led coalition on Yemen have made the path to achieve a just peace in the country even more difficult. He pointed out that these attacks are being carried out amid the silence and inaction of the international community, the uncontrolled sale of weapons to the aggressors and the adoption of biased approaches and double standard policies in international circles in the face of seven years of cruel aggression against the Yemeni people.

He added that countries that sell weapons to the aggressors to kill innocent Yemenis are complicit in such crimes and should be held accountable.

Hezbollah condemns Saudi-led coalition’s fresh airstrikes in Yemen, slams international silence

Hezbollah denounced on Friday the horrible massacre committed by the Saudi-led coalition that killed and injured more than 150 people in a prison in the Yemeni province of Saada, Al-Manar website reported on Saturday.

In a statement, Hezbollah Media Relations Office described as “terrifying” the massacre which killed dozens and injured hundreds of Yemeni men, women and children early on Friday.

“This horrible massacre proves aggression power’s brutality as well as their lack of all humanitarian, moral and religious values,” Hezbollah said, noting that the strikes were aimed at covering up their failure in the battlefield.

The Lebanese Resistance movement condemned the international silence towards the ongoing massacres in Yemen, calling on free people across the world to stand by the oppressed people of Yemen and voice rejection to these crimes.
