A new book on Syrian plastic art from the awakening in the 1950s to the present

 “Art from Syria” is the title of the book recently issued by the critic and plastic artist Talal Moualla, in both English and German. The book, which was issued by the “ Takla”Cultural Foundation in Germany, deals with the situation of plastic art in Syria from the 1950s of the last century to the present.

“This publication comes with the purpose of contributing to introducing contemporary Syrian art and artists in Europe, where the critic and artist Moualla reviewed the basic lines of the development of modern plastic art in Syria during more than seventy years with attached drawings and illustrations” Shawkat Takla, Director of “Takal” cultural foundation said in a statement to SANA.

 

He stressed that the activities carried out by the Foundation aim to promote contemporary Syrian art through launching an art competition last year, in addition to establishing the Museum of Contemporary Syrian Art in Bremen, Germany.
