Republic of Crimea affirms the readiness of its ports to develop trade exchange with Syria

Moscow, (ST) – The permanent representative of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian presidency, Georgy Muradov, announced that the Crimean ports could become the main southern sea gates for Russia as part of the development of trade and economic relations with Syria.

Muradov told Sputnik that “the Crimean ports are ready to become the main southern sea gates for Russia in developing trade and economic relations with Syria. “These ports are open to the supply of marketable products to and from Syria without fear of any sanctions,” he added.

Muradov also said that, “representatives of other Russian regions can trade with Syria through Crimea without the risks of sanctions.” He explained that “a joint trading house (place) has already been established between Crimea and Syria, and we are now working to increase the volume of trade exchange with it.”

A Syrian economic delegation headed by the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil arrived yesterday on an official visit to the Republic of Crimea to hold talks on prospects for joint cooperation between the two sides.

During his meeting with the Syrian delegation, the President of the Russian Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksionov, stressed his country’s endeavor to develop commercial partnership programs with Syria.
