Terrorist Groups Persist in Violating Declared Truce

 GOVERNORATES, (ST) – Armed terrorist groups on Monday continued for the fourth day running to violate the truce recently declared by the Syrian Army General Command on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

 The terrorists, today and late Sunday targeted civilians as well as army and order-keeping forces checkpoints in a number of Syrian governorates.

In its statement on Monday, the General Command of the Syrian Arab Army said that a terrorist group attacked the headquarters of the Southern Region Command in Damascus with mortar shells and targeted a position for order-keeping forces in Harasta.

The statement added Damascus Countryside witnessed fire shooting on order-keeping forces checkpoints in Qatana, Doma, Harasta, Irbeen and Zamalka.  A food delivery car was also attacked near Harasta.

In Homs, terrorist groups attacked order-keeping personnel in al-Qarabees, Jouret al-Sheyyah, Talbeiseh, Jub al-Jandali, al-Khaldeya, al-Qal’a, Talkalakh, Bab Hood and Deir Ba’albe areas.

In Hama,  the checkpoints of the order-keeping forces near al-Hijra and al-Sibahi Roundabouts, and in Bab al-Taqa, Qall’et al-Madeek and  al-Masafi areas were the target of the terrorist groups’ fire.

In Aleppo, several violations by the terrorists were reported as targeting order-keeping forces by sniper rifles, mortar shells and domestically-made rockets near the Justice Palace and  in al-Lirmoune, al- Atareb, Khan al-Asal, old Aleppo, and al-Tilal Street areas.  

In Idleb, armed terrorist groups targeted order-keeping checkpoints in Harem, al-Allana, Wadi al-Deif, al-Hamedeyah, al-Tarnaba areas.

The terrorists’ fire shooting and RBGs also targeted order-keeping forces and a military barrack in Deir Ezzour.

The General Command of the Syrian Army concluded the statement by saying:  “Starting from its keenness to get the public opinion acquainted with the foreign-backed terrorist groups’ crimes against our people and armed forces, the General Command reiterates commitment to implementing its constitutional task to defend the homeland and stresses determination to restore security and stability to every inch of our beloved country.”

Meanwhile, SANA reported on Monday that armed terrorist groups blew up a booby-trapped car in al-Rawda area in Jaramana of Damascus Countryside in a new violation of the declared truce. 11 people were martyred and dozens wounded in the blast.

An official source told SANA reporter that “Eleven people were martyred and tens of civilians, most of them women and children, were wounded in the terrorist explosion which also caused huge damages to nearby buildings, shops and citizens’ properties.

Another terrorist bombing hit al-Hajar al-Aswad district of Damascus Countryside. The blast claimed the lives of several people and wounded scores, according to SANA.

 

Army units Respond

The Syrian army units, clashed with a terrorist group who terrorized citizens and committed sabotage acts in Harasta of Damascus Countryside. Terrorists were killed and their weapons were confiscated.

An official source told SANA that the army forces discovered a field hospital equipped with necessary medical tools and medicaments which were previously stolen by terrorists from public and private hospitals and health care centers.

The source added that the Syrian armed forces confronted a terrorist group who attacked civilians and order-keeping personnel in Irbeen. A number of group’s members were killed including a group leader called Mohammad Kheir al-Qalesh. The terrorist group’s RBGs and auto-rifles were confiscated.

The army forces also killed members of a terrorist group who targeted order-keeping personnel and private properties in Zamalka.

In Homs, the Syrian army forces retaliated to the fire shooting of the armed terrorist groups on army and order-keeping checkpoints in Bab Hood  and al-Zafaraneh areas. A number of terrorists were killed and many wounded.

In the countryside of Deir Ezzour, terrorists carried out attacks and sabotage acts in al-Shaheel area, but the army units retaliated causing huge losses among terrorists and  destroying their cars.

The truce, recently declared by the General Command of the Syrian Arab Army, has received more blows by the armed terrorist groups for the third day running.

In its statement on Sunday, The General Command said   foreign-backed terrorists violated the announced ceasefire by attacking army and law-enforcement checkpoints as well as  the state infrastructure and civil sites in several governorates.

The army and law enforcement checkpoints in al-Qalamoun, Artouz, Jibadin, Harasta, Shab’a, Zamalka, Qaboun, al-Nabek, al-Meshrfeh, al-Zabadani and al-Nishabiyeh areas of Damascus countryside were the targets of armed terrorist groups fire Sunday morning and late Saturday. An explosive device was also detonated in Deir Attiyeh area.

The General Command added that in the Central region, armed terrorist groups Saturday evening attacked order-keeping checkpoints in Talkalakh town of Homs. Another group shot fire on checkpoints in al-Ghab and al-Baroudeya areas in Hama.

In Aleppo, several violations were reported committed by terrorists on Saturday and Sunday. Order-keeping checkpoints in Bab Antakia, Bistan al-Qaser, Khan al-Asal and al- Lirmoun areas were exposed to the fire and the mortar shells of terrorist groups. A military barrack,  al-Zirbeh neighborhood, and the Municipal Palace in Aleppo were also targeted by armed groups’ different types of weapons including machineguns, RBGs and domestically-made rockets.

According to the Army General Command’s statement, the order-keeping checkpoints positioned on al-Hamedeyah-Al-Ma’arra and Harem-Silqeen roads and in al-Allaneh and Jabal al-Dawali areas in Idleb were attacked by terrorists Sunday morning.

In Deir Ezzour, a terrorist group blew up an oil pipeline in al-Boukmal area.

The General Command concluded its statement by reiterating that the terrorist groups’ persistence in violating the declared ceasefire is a clear-cut evidence of their being used as tools serving the scheme which aims at destroying and fragmenting Syria. This makes the necessity of confronting and chasing those terrorists to rid the homeland of their evil an inevitable task.

Meanwhile, SANA on Sunday reported that army checkpoints near al-Halabeya Roundabout in the city of Deir Ezzour were exposed to terrorists’ fire shooting.

According to the agency, the Syrian Army units clashed with the terrorist group and killed three of its members including a leader in al-Qaeda called Ammar Nawar al-Hajar.

Army units also confronted a terrorist group shooting fire on army and law-enforcement checkpoints in al-Rashdeya area. A number of terrorists  were killed including a group leader called Ghazwan al-Hussein.

In Damascus Countryside, army checkpoints in Zamalka town were targeted by a terrorist group, but the army retaliated and killed a number of its members including an armed group leader and confiscated their weapons, an official source told SANA reporter.

 The army forces also clashed with another group of terrorists who attacked al-Shourta and al-Bairouni hospitals in Harasta with RBGs causing material damages.  A number of terrorists were killed and wounded in the clashes, according to the source.

 An official source told SANA reporter that the Syrian army forces also foiled terrorists’ attempt to explode a booby-trapped car carrying 1000 kg of explosives in Khan al-Asal area of Aleppo countryside.

An armed terrorist group targeted the al-Zahraa district with three mortar shells, one of which hit the Al-Rasoul al-A’zam Mosque causing material damages. Another group of terrorists shelled the Municipal Palace of Aleppo, causing material damages, but no human casualties.

Saturday, the second day of the truce, witnessed grave violations by the terrorist groups.

In Damascus Country side, Daraa, Homs, Hama, Aleppo, Idleb, and Deir Azzour Governorates, scores of Army checkpoints order-keeping forces were attacked around the clock by the terrorists

The terrorists exploded a booby-trapped car in the morning at Taskar Region in Deir Azzour, and another booby-trapped car near Al-Syriac Church in the city causing great material damage to the Church’s façade.

The armed terrorist groups planted improvised explosive devices in different quarters of the said governorates and used several types of arms, including snipers, Heavy machine gunfire, automatic rifles, RBG Launchers.

The foreign-backed armed terrorist groups continued to violate the ceasefire declared by the Syrian Army General Command on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

 The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said in a statement on Saturday that the armed terrorist groups attacked several army checkpoints as well as civil and military sites in a number of Syrian governorates.

In Damascus Countryside, on Friday evening between 20:00 and 21:00, armed terrorist groups’ fire targeted army and law-enforcement forces checkpoints in different areas in Doma, Harasta, Housh Arab and Qatana towns. They also planted explosive devices in Kafar Kook surrounding at 08:30 and in the area eastern to Masaken al-Tawafeek Roundabout at 11:30 on Saturday.

In Daraa, terrorists groups opened fire on Namer checkpoint at 23:00 yesterday and attacked an army barrack at 13:30 Saturday.

In Homs, terrorists attacked Jub al-Jarrah checkpoint in al-Mukharram area at 22:30 and tried at 02:30 Saturday to reinforce their positions in al-Haydareyya area. At 05:00 a terrorist group targeted law-enforcement personnel in Bab Hood area with sniper shots and RPGs.

The statement of the General Command also said that in Hama on Friday, the fire shooting of the armed terrorist groups targeted army checkpoints in several areas including al-Hamzeh Towers at 20:30, the Four Waterwheels at 20:50 as well as al-Jubb Rounabout and the al-Masbah (swimming pool) at 23:15. They also attacked the new building of the Baath Party branch and Police Command at 23:30.

In Aleppo, several violations were reported depicting terrorists’ attacks with different kinds of weapons on law-enforcement forces in Kan al-Wazeer Post Center area in Old Aleppo at 09:30 Saturday morning. Terrorist’s fire also targeted law-enforcement checkpoints on the Aleppo-E’zaz Highway in Kafar Hamra area at 09:45, on the Aleppo-Atareb Highway in Khan al Asal area at 10:00 and on Aleppo-Al-Raqqa Highway at 10:30. In addition,  a law-enforcement checkpoint in al-Farafera neighborhood was attacked at 11:30.

In Idleb, the terrorist groups shot fire on law-enforcement personnel in the market of the Youth Housing area at 02:30 Saturday and in Wadi al-Deif, al-Hamedeyya, Harem, Silqeen and al-Allana areas at 06:00. They also planted two explosive devices weighing between 50-80 kg on Idleb-Silqin Highway, and detonated a 20 kg-explosive device near the Carlton Hotel in the city at 09:00.

In Deir Ezzour, according to the Army Command’s statement, terrorist groups on Saturday at 05:00 blew up a booby-trapped car targeting a military position. They heavily shot fire on law-enforcement personnel in al-Jabeileh and al-Rasheediyeh areas. They also blew up a booby-trapped car between the Church of the Syriac and the Region’s Command at 06:15 Saturday.     

The General Command concluded the statement by stressing its keenness to get the public opinion acquainted with the reality of events in Syria and to keep observing the terrorist groups’ incessant violations of the October 25th declared ceasefire to which the general Command had announced full commitment.

The Army Command also stressed firm determination to continue confronting the criminal acts perpetrated by the terrorist groups against our homeland and citizens.

On Friday, the first day of Adha Eid, foreign-backed armed terrorist groups repeatedly attacked several Syrian Arab Army checkpoints in different Syrian governorates in an open violation of the truce.

A booby-trapped car was exploded in Daf al-Shouk neighborhood in Damascus.

State TV reported more than five people had been killed and more than 30 wounded in the blast.

Daraa has also been hit by another booby-trapped car explosion at the “Mahata square; heavy material damage and scores of causalities were reported.

Another armed terrorist group tried to infiltrate into Syria from Lebanon at Tal-Kalakh area, where the terrorists fired on border-guards.

On Thursday, the General Command of the Syrian Arab Army and Armed forces issued a statement announcing the halting of military operations on the Syrian Arab Republic’s territories, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, as from Friday October 26th  till Monday October 29th .

In its statement, the  General Command said: “In harmony with our responsibility to protect civilians, as well as the country’s public and private properties, our armed forces reserve the right to retaliate in cases including:

1- The continuity of fire shooting by armed terrorist groups on civilians and government forces, of attacks against the country’s  public and private properties and of the use of booby trapped cars and explosive devices.

2- Attempts by Armed terrorist groups to enhance their positions as the validity of this announcement begins.

3- Attempts by neighbouring countries to facilitate terrorists’ infiltration into the country across their borders in violation of their international obligations regarding combating terrorism.
