Vershinin discusses with Ravanian the latest developments in Syria

On January 15th, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin discussed with the Special Coordinator for Syria Affairs at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Stefano Ravanian the latest developments in Syria.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that during the meeting, which took place at the request of the Italian side, they discussed “practical aspects of Russian-Italian cooperation on Syria in international arenas.

 

The two sides discussed strengthening the humanitarian program to help the Syrian people in light of the economic and social consequences of the Corona pandemic and the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria.

 The two sides stressed the importance of implementing UN Security Council resolutions with regard to helping the Syrians move towards achieving a political solution to the crisis in their country.
