A sit-in at Al-Am’ari Camp in solidarity with the Palestinian prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid

Tens of Palestinians on Saturday staged a sit-in at Al-Am’ari Camp in the West Bank city of Ramallah demanding the international community to pressure Israel as to release the Palestinian prisoner in the Israeli jails Nasser Abu Hamid, who has been in a coma for 11 days.

WAFA news agency reported that participants in the sit in, which was called for by the Palestinian national forces, carried the Palestinian flag and the pictures of Abu Hamid whose condition is life-threatening as he suffers from a severe inflammation in his lungs as a result of bacterial contamination.

The participants chanted slogans demanding the international community to save Abu Hamid’s life and work to immediately release him from prison to get proper treatment.

Hassan Abed Rabbo, from the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Commission, told WAFA that Abu Hmeid is attached to artificial respiration at an Israeli hospital while he is not responding to medication.

Despite daily calls by the Palestinian people and the Palestinian prisoners institutions for releasing Abu Hamid, who has been in Israeli jail since 2002, the occupation keeps ignoring these calls and refuse to release the prisoner to get necessary treatment amid complete inaction by the international community.
