Lavrov: US Sanctions Absurd. Russia Will Respond

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said his country will respond to the new US sanctions based on the specific situation that will arise due to the actions of Washington and its Western allies.

In a television interview today Thursday, Lavrov described threats to impose sanctions by Washington as very arrogant and absurd, indicating that this type of taking ridiculous decisions has been adopted by the US Congress more than once.

Lavrov stressed that Moscow will respond to the new US sanctions and take its decision based on the specific situation which will be considered as a result of certain actions by the United States and its Western allies.

US senators have proposed imposing sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin and senior Russian government officials in the event of an escalation of the situation around Ukraine.
