The World Health Organization warns that more than half of Europe will be infected with Omicron within two months

The World Health Organization has warned that more than half of the European population could be infected with the Omicron mutant from the Corona virus if the current rate of infections continues.

“At this rate, the Institute for Health Metrics expects that more than 50 percent of the population in the region will be infected with omicron in the next six to eight weeks,” the organization’s director of Europe, Hans Kluge, told AFP.

The World Health Organization considered that the spread of the Omicron mutated from the Corona virus is due to a group of factors, including the mutations it carries and the increase in social mixing. While the organization announced that about 9.5 million new cases of corona were recorded last week, which is a record number, an increase of 71 percent over the previous week.
