Palestinian Prisoners Affairs warns of deteriorating health of prisoners Raddad and Matan

On January 6th, the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Commission warned of the deterioration of the health status of the two prisoners, Abdel Basset Maatan and Mutasem Raddad, as a result of the Israeli occupation authorities’ refusal to provide them with the necessary treatment.

The Commission  stated that  prisoner Maatan, 49, suffers from colon and gland cancer, and before his arrest, he underwent several complex surgeries and chemotherapy sessions that affected his condition.

The Commission said that Maatan’s health condition requires close follow-up for fear of the disease spreading again, but the occupation authorities deliberately neglect his condition and do not provide him with the necessary medication for his condition.

The Commission indicated that the prisoner, Mutassim Raddad, 38, who has been detained since 2006, suffers from heart diseases, nerve problems, osteoporosis, and has recently been suffering from anemia and a sharp decrease in his weight, noting that his health is in danger as a result of the arbitrary practices of the occupation against him.

The Commission indicated that the number of sick prisoners in the occupation detention centers reached 600, including 18 patients with cancer, calling on the international community to pressure the occupation to release them and save their lives.
