Palestinian prisoner Hisham Abo Hawwash faces the threat of sudden death, PPC lawyer Jawad Boulos said Saturday.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club said Jawad Boulos affirmed, based on a medical report issued by doctors in humanitarian organizations, “Prisoner Hisham Abo Hawwash, who has been hunger-striking for 138 days, faces the threat of sudden death, and he is in a very critical condition.”
“The doctors attached basic and keynotes in the report, which says the medical staff in the hospital refused to update them on Hisham’s health condition. The doctors who visited were unable to comprehend the fact that doctors in previous hospitals agreed to transfer him back to prison, despite the reports highlighting how serious his health condition was,” Boulos said.
The 40-year-old Abo Hawwash is from the town of Dura in the south of the occupied West Bank city of Al-Khalil. He was detained by the occupation forces several times since 2003 and last time was in October 2020.
About 5,000 Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails face harsh detention conditions, including about 600 prisoners who need urgent medical intervention.
