The Palestinian Foreign Ministry calls for urgent intervention to release the prisoner Abu Hawash

On January 2nd, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to intervene urgently and put pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to release the prisoner Hisham Abu Hawash, who has been on hunger strike for 139 days.

In a statement today, the Foreign Ministry stated that the intransigence of the occupation authorities and their refusal to release the prisoner Abu Hawash, who suffers from a severe deterioration in his health that threatens his life, is nothing but a slow murder added to its series of crimes and continuous violations against the Palestinian people.

The Foreign Ministry pointed out that the occupation’s arbitrary practices against the prisoners are a flagrant violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions and the principles of human rights.

The Foreign Ministry called on the relevant UN organizations to shoulder their legal and moral responsibilities and to put pressure on the occupation to halt these violations.
