On December 26th, the special authorities, in cooperation with the people in the city of Daraa, seized quantities of medium and light weapons, various ammunitions and communication devices in several areas of the governorate.
A source said that after the settlement operations and the state of stability and reassurance that prevailed in the entire governorate of Daraa, a large number of people took the initiative to hand over weapons and equipment they had to the Syrian Arab Army.”
In a related context, the source stated that the special authorities and units of the army carried out raids on a number of houses and farms in the countryside of the governorate, based on accurate information. The special authorities confiscated quantities of weapons and ammunition, in parallel with continuing to perform their duty to monitor and pursue smuggling operations, where another amount of weapons and ammunition that smugglers were preparing to smuggle out of the province was seized.
The source noted that the seized weapons included “PKC machine guns, a large number of automatic rifles, RPG launchers with their fillings, snipers, DOShKA bullets, 14.5 mm machine guns, 122 mm mortars with shells, grenades, communication devices, a small reconnaissance plane, explosive devices and anti-armor mines.”
The special authorities in Daraa continue patrolling and inspection operations within the areas that joined the settlement agreement that the Syrian state proposed last August, in cooperation with the people and dignitaries, with the aim of enhancing the state of security and stability in the province.
