On December 26th, the Palestinian Prisoners Club warned of the deterioration of the health of prisoner , Abdel BasetMaatan ,who is sick with cancer as a result of the arbitrary practices of the Israeli occupation authorities against him, especially the deliberate medical negligence.

“The Israeli occupation authorities have deliberately delayed providing the necessary treatment to prisoner Maatan – this has recently worsened his health,” Wafa news agency quoted the Prisoner’s Club as saying in a statement.

The Club called on international organizations concerned with prisoners’ affairs to pressure the occupation to release him.

The Club indicated that Maatan, who has been detained since the 25th of last October, underwent several surgeries before his arrest to remove the cancerous tumor from his intestines, but it was found that the cancerous cells had spread .

It is noteworthy that Maatan is a former prisoner who spent about 9 years in the Israeli occupation prisons.
