President Al-Assad congratulates Christian denominations in Syria on Christmas

President Bashar Al-Assad on Saturday congratulated the Christian denominations in Syria on Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.

The President’s congratulations were delivered by Minister of Presidential affairs Azzam Mansour during his visits to heads of the Christian denominations in the country, including Patriarch Youhanna X Yaziji of Antioch and All East for the Greek Orthodox, Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Supreme Head of Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, Patriarch Yusuf Absi of Antioch and All East for the Melkite Greek Catholics, the Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Damascus Youhanna Jihad Battah and the Armenian Catholic Bishop of Damascus Joseph Arnaouti.

 Azzam also extended President Al-Assad’s congratulations to Head of the Evangelical Synod in Syria and Lebanon and the spiritual leader of the National Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Damascus, Reverend Boutros Zaour, the Maronite Catholic Archbishop of Damascus Samir Nassar, the pastor of the Chaldean Church in Damascus, Father Malik Mallos and Head of the Latin Church in Damascus, Father Antoin Luxeh.

On their part, the patriarchs, archbishops and fathers highly appreciated President Al-Assad gesture, hoping that God will protect Syria with its people, army and leadership and that the Syrians will manage to overcome the economic blockade imposed them  by the countries supporting terrorism.
