In honor of the martyrs’ children, (Matrishka and the Christmas tree) concert held at the Opera House
Damascus: (ST): In honor of 700 children of the martyrs’ sons and daughters, and on the occasion of Christmas and New Year’s Day, the Ministry of Education held an artistic concert entitled “Matrishka and the Christmas Tree” at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus with the participation of a delegation from the Russian Duma and the Moscow government.
The ceremony included artistic dance performances presented by a number of Syrian school students introducing Russian culture and celebrations for Christmas and New Year, the symbolism of the Christmas Tree, Santa Claus, Russian heritage and culture, and lyrical performances in the Russian language, ballet and sand painting, in addition to an exhibition of drawings and handicrafts made by martyrs’ children.
In a speech during the ceremony, Minister of Education Dr. Darem Tabbaa pointed out that the ceremony aims to bring joy to the hearts of the sons and daughters of the martyrs who fought terrorism and sacrificed their lives in the same battle alongside the Russian army, pointing out that the ceremony is held annually by Russian language teachers and students and this year took it place with the participation of Russian friends.
The representative of the Moscow government responsible for the development of foreign relations for the city of Moscow, Igor Tkach, said: “We came to you carrying a message of love from the children of Russia to the children of Syria,” wishing that the messages of Syrian children to Santa Claus next year would be in Russian and that this visit would be a symbol of the development and cooperation between Syria and Russia in the future.
Chairman of the Russian-Syrian Friendship Committee in the Russian State Duma, Dmitry Sablin, explained in a statement to reporters that the ceremony is a message of love and friendship from Moscow children to Syrian children, and we brought gifts, the most important of which is the New Year Tree, which is a beautiful tradition in Russia and we wanted to share it with Syrian children.
