Discussions to transfer Iranian agricultural research technologies to Syria

Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Engineer Muhammad Hassan Qatana, discussed with the head of the Iranian University Jihad Foundation, Dr. Hamid Reza Tibi and his accompanying delegation, the possibilities of transferring Iranian technologies in the field of embryos, the production of hybrid seeds for vegetables and the production of fingerlings of marine fish to Syria.

The Minister of Agriculture stressed the importance of transferring these modern technologies to Syria to benefit from them in the development of the agricultural sector, especially with regard to embryo transfer technology, after livestock suffered great damage during the years of the terrorist war on Syria, pointing to the Ministry’s readiness to cooperate in this field and to put in place the implementation mechanisms as soon as possible. .

Minister Qatana pointed to the rehabilitation of a genetic seed bank in Aleppo to be supplied with seeds soon, in cooperation with the “ICARDA” Research Center, indicating that the General Authority for Scientific Agricultural Research provides important research and high-yield varieties of crops after putting them to test for lengthy periods of time.

In turn, the head of the Iranian University Jihad Foundation expressed his institution’s readiness to cooperate with the Syrian side in the fields of research, exchange of expertise and visits.
