Aoun calls on international community to facilitate the return of displaced Syrians to their country
On December 13th, Lebanese President General Michel Aoun met with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Geir Pedersen in Beirut.
President Aoun stressed the importance of efforts to achieve progress in the path of a political solution to the crisis in Syria for the interest of its people and the countries of the region, especially Lebanon.
During the meeting, Aoun called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in facilitating the return of the displaced Syrians in Lebanon to their country, especially in light of the return of security to most of the Syrian regions after their liberation from terrorism.
The Lebanese president pointed out that the displaced can return to their lands and homes and live in them instead of relying on the aid of international organizations.
In turn, Pedersen briefed President Aoun on the data related to the move he is taking on his current tour aimed at finding ways to find solutions to the crisis in Syria.
Pedersen referred to the appreciation of the international organization and the international community for Lebanon’s hosting of the displaced Syrians on its soil.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, discussed during his meeting yesterday with Pedersen, the developments of the situation in Syria and the course of the political process.
