Syrian-Indonesian talks to boost investment and trade exchange

Jakarta (ST): The Chargé d’Affairs of the Syrian Embassy in Jakarta, Minister Plenipotentiary Abdel Moneim Anan, discussed with the Director of the Bilateral Cooperation Department at the Indonesian Ministry of Trade Med Ayo Martheni, via video technology, ways to enhance investment and trade exchange between the two countries.

Ambassador Anan said during the talks, “The aim of the meeting is to discuss opportunities and ways to increase the rates of trade and investment exchange between the two countries, and to consider framing them within an agreement and establishing a joint cooperation mechanism.”

Anan pointed out that despite the wide cooperation opportunities between the two countries, they are still limited, pointing out that Syria is heading towards new investment horizons and reconstruction, and there are many investment opportunities that Indonesian companies can benefit from.

For her part, Marthini submitted a proposal to form a business working group to discuss opportunities, challenges and possibilities of cooperation with government companies and the private sector by inviting the Indonesian and Syrian chambers of commerce to participate in it and to sign in principle a memorandum of understanding between the two countries to increase and develop trade exchange.
