On December 9th, the Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, announced the end of the combat missions of the so-called “international coalition forces” and their official withdrawal from Iraq.
In a statement reported by the Iraqi News Agency, Al-Araji said that “the last round of dialogue with the international coalition, which began last year, has ended.”
Al-Araji noted that the relationship with the international coalition will continue in the field of training, advice and empowerment.
Al-Araji explained that the Iraqi government pledged its commitment to provide protection to the members of the international coalition and the NATO mission, in addition to preparing the meeting parties for an assessment of the progress made in this relationship, and in general, on a quarterly basis.
