Russian Chief of Staff: The illegal presence of foreign forces in Syria reduces effectiveness of fight against terrorism
Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov stressed that the illegal presence of foreign forces in Syria reduces the effectiveness of the fight against terrorist organizations there.
In a statement today to the military attaches of foreign countries, Russia Today website quoted Gerasimov as saying that the illegal military presence of the United States and a number of other countries in Syria helps the terrorist organizations deployed there to expand their influence.
Gerasimov noted that his country continues to fight terrorism and provides assistance in the return of refugees and the restoration of infrastructure to preserve the integrity and unity of Syrian territory.
Regarding the de-escalation zone in Idlib, Gerasimov indicated that work is underway with the Turkish side to implement the existing agreements and stop hostilities.
