Several measures adopted to reactivate work in Syrian-Jordanian Free Zone

DARAA, DEC.8, (ST)-The Directorate of the joint Syrian-Jordanian Free Zone has adopted several measures to reactivate the return of investment facilities to service, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The agency quoted the Director-General of the zone Erfan Al-Khadawneh as saying on Wednesday that the measures included electronic connection between the Syrian and Jordanian customs, equipping shipping gates ensuring electricity, water and telecommunications.

Khadawneh added that the commercial movement between Syria and Jordan will return as it was before.

For his part, Director of Public Relations and Media in the zone Nidal Al-Zoubi said that the opening of the zone will ensure around 2000 job opportunities in several sectors.

The Director of the Syrian Investment Commission in Daraa branch declared that reactivating the work in the zone will have a positive effect on national income and will help facilitate getting the raw materials that are required by industrial facilities to start production.

The Syrian-Jordanian zone, which was set up in 1975, went out of service on the 2nd of April in 2015 and it returned to be into service on the 1st of December.
