On December 6th, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi affirmed the depth of strategic relations between Iran and Syria and their development in various fields, especially in the economic and commercial fields to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
During his meeting in Tehran with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, Raisi stressed that Iran continues its support for Syria to confront the illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed on it.
Raisi said that Syria’s security, sovereignty and role in the region is an important and vital matter that enjoys Iran’s attention and support.
Raisi pointed out that the relations between the two countries are based on historical foundations and common positions, foremost of which is confronting all forms of occupation and terrorism.
The Iranian president welcomed the invitation extended to him to visit Syria.
During the meeting, they reviewed the latest regional and international developments and issues of common interest.
In turn, Minister Miqdad described the relations between Tehran and Damascus as historical, strategic and important, not only for the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples, but also in ensuring security and stability in the region.
Miqdad stressed that thanks to Syria’s steadfastness, the sacrifices of its people, and the support of allies and friends, led by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Russian Federation and all honorable people.
The meeting was attended by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, and Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Dr. Shafiq Diop.
