Today the United Nations General Assembly adopted, by majority, two resolutions in favor of Palestine, one concerning the occupied city of Jerusalem and the other on solving the Palestinian issue.
The Palestinian News Agency, Wafa, stated that the two resolutions were adopted by the United Nations General Assembly by an overwhelming majority in its session yesterday.
The resolution on the occupied city of Jerusalem reiterated that any measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities to change the character of the city are null and must be stopped with the need to preserve the historical and legal situation in the city.
The second resolution is related to resolving the Palestinian issue in order to bring peace and stability to the Middle East.
“The responsibility of the United Nations towards the question of Palestine is clear and remains vital, since the catastrophe that befell the Palestinian people after the General Assembly’s resolution to partition historic Palestine – the catastrophe continues after 74 years with generations deprived of their basic human rights,”the Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, said.
Mansour explained that the failure to hold the occupation authorities accountable for their crimes, systematic violations of human rights, war crimes and settlement plans allowed them to escape punishment in flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions.
Mansour called on the international community to implement its relevant resolutions, end the Israeli occupation and preserve the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
