The Secretary-General of the Jordanian Ministry of Health for Epidemiological Affairs, Adel Al-Balbisi, announced that the country is witnessing a rise in the number of infections with the Coronavirus.
Ammon News Agency quoted Belbisi as saying today that 72,207 cases of coronavirus were recorded last week, an increase of about 35 %, expecting his country to reach the peak of the third wave within two weeks.
Al-Belbisi warned against the new mutated Omicron virus, pointing out that regular PCR tests can detect and monitor this new mutant.
The Jordanian official noted that his country has taken precautionary measures, similar to the rest of the world, with the aim of preventing the entry of this mutant into the country, such as preventing travel and flights coming from some African countries, in addition to imposing quarantine on Jordanians coming from South African countries at their own expense.
Jordan recorded on Saturday the death of 29 cases and the infection of 2,674 ones, bringing the total number of corona cases in the country to 939,293 cases and deaths to 11,515 deaths.
