Syrian-Russian parliamentary meeting

Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh affirmed during his meeting with a Russian parliamentary delegation on Wednesday the depth and strength of the Syrian-Russian relations established by the leaderships of the two friendly countries, pointing to Russia’s support for Syria in fighting terrorism and achieving victory over it.

Sabbagh indicated that parliamentary relations between the two countries are witnessing  remarkable development, expressing his hope to deepen them further, intensify future visits and exchange experiences between the People’s Assembly, the Duma and the Syrian-Russian Friendship Association.

 

Sabbagh appreciated the great role that Russia played alongside Syria in its war against terrorism and its support for the steadfastness of the Syrian people, congratulating the Speaker of the State Duma on the occasion of the elections being held on time and praising the integrity that characterized it.

For her part, Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma Anna Kuznetsova underlined the importance of developing bilateral relations in all fields, especially parliamentary ones, and that the idea of establishing friendship and cooperation between the regions and provinces of the two countries continues within the framework of the joint work of the Syrian-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Association.

In turn, member of the Russian State Duma and Chairman of the Russian-Syrian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Dmitry Sablin, stated that the relationship with the members of the People’s Assembly is a friendly one, and daily work continues at the level of the Friendship Committee to boost this relationship and the efforts made in a way that benefits the Syrian people.
