Today, Dubai Expo 2020 celebrates the National Day of Syria as one of the national days of the countries participating in the exhibition by holding a set of various cultural and artistic activities for which the Syrian Pavilion team has prepared in cooperation with the Syrian Embassy and the Syrian Trust for Development.
Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, indicated in a speech during the start of the celebration that Syria seeks to invest all available capabilities and energies to develop its economy. It also believes that international cooperation is the main motive for any economic work, calling for Syria’s participation in the current stage of work, production and construction.
“ On the National Day of Syria, we invite all to share with us the current stage of construction, work and production, benefiting from important and new laws in investment and from many legislations supportive of production, export and investment,” Al-Khalil said.
Al-Khalil added: If we in Syria seek to invest all available capabilities and energies and direct them towards the development of our economy, then we believe that international cooperation must be a main driver for any economic work and is in line with the development priorities of countries and with their awareness and understanding that this cooperation will serve the interests of all.
Al-Khalil expressed his thanks to the United Arab Emirates for the support it provided for the success of the Syrian participation in the exhibition, hoping this great and distinguished event to achieve all its objectives in communication between countries, strengthening relations and cooperation, supporting and developing existing partnerships and establishing new ones that contribute to achieving the good for all.
Al-Khalil noted that the celebration today is an extension of the activities of the Syrian pavilion through which we confirm that the title of our participation in this exhibition is “Together, the Future is Ours” due to the fact that Syria is the cradle of many civilizations and has a distinguished geographical site.
For his part, Executive Director of the Office of the Commissioner-General of Expo Dubai 2020, Najeeb Muhammad Al-Ali, said: We congratulate you on your distinguished participation under the slogan “Together, the future is ours,” which we see as an appropriate opportunity for the world to learn about the development and progress achieved by the brotherly Syrian people in various fields and shed light on pioneering ideas and projects and the future plans and programs that Syrians seek to achieve to attract investors from all over the world.
The participation of Syria in this exhibition is vital, as it serves as a global platform for presenting its rich history and heritage, as well as its future plans for reconstruction, Al-Ali added:
Al-Ali highlighted the deeply rooted historical relations linking the UAE and Syria, pointing to the role of Syrians in the field of medicine, education and media in the United Arab Emirates.
Al-Ali pointed out that the world is facing the effects of the Corona pandemic, which has claimed many lives, affected the economy and changed the way of life. So, Expo Dubai 2020 is an ideal opportunity for cooperation to build a safer and happier future according to the slogan “Connecting Minds and Creating the Future.”
