All obstacles impeding humanitarian aid delivery to Syria and hindering reconstruction should be eliminated: Lavrov

Russia’ Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday renewed his country’s call for eliminating all the obstacles that are impeding the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people and hindering Syria’s reconstruction as well as the implementation of the international resolutions that specified the framework of political solution in the country.

During a press conference on the sidelines of the meeting of the Russian-French Security Cooperation Council in Paris, Lavrov said that a set of UN Security Council resolutions regarding Syria should be implemented, particularly those that call for providing humanitarian aid and eliminating all the obstacles hindering reconstruction and the delivery of aid to Syria, including water supply and electricity generation systems and all the equipment that serve the sectors of health and construction.

Lovrov noted the tension in the international situation due to the United States’ sought to maintain its hegemony and destroy the structures that were formed within the framework of the United Nations, and due its attempt to impose its order on the international community. He also referred to the aggressive actions taken by NATO recently against Russia, especially the deployment of more forces in the Black Sea and the dispatch of a big number of warships to this region.

He pointed out that the ministerial meeting between Russia and France on Friday discussed issues relating to strategic stability and the new challenges that emerged after the United States left the medium and short-range missile agreement.

Lavrov stressed that his country will respond to any aggressive steps taken by the West against Russia.
