Iran will not succumb to threats during the nuclear negotiations, says Abdullahian

EHRAN, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed that, the use of force and threats in the context of nuclear negotiations between his country and Western countries is not helpful. He stressed that, Iran will not surrender and be subject to false allegations and threats, IRNA reported.

Speaking in a phone conversation with his German counterpart Heiko Maas, Amirabdollahian said that the language of power and threat would not work in negotiations, adding that any inaccurate and unreal remark could endanger the ongoing efforts.

Referring to the upcoming Vienna talks, he said the US is the main cause of the current situation of Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He stated that US withdrawal from the JCPOA as well as the E3’s lack of commitment has increased the level of distrust, so lifting sanctions is essential.

He advised the E3 to avoid issuing provocative statements.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Abdollahian slammed aggression against Iraqi prime minister’s residence.

Referring to the developments in Afghanistan, he stressed vaccination of about four million Afghan refugees in Iran.

He also expressed Iran’s readiness to send Germany’s aid to Afghanistan.

Also, he underlined the importance of ending humanitarian blockade in Yemen.

Meanwhile, Maas referred to German firms’ interest for having cooperation with Iran, adding that Germany will spare no efforts for returning the US to the nuclear deal.

Pointing to Iran-Germany common position against the attempted assassination of Iraqi PM, he stressed support for peace and stability in Iraq.

Both sides reviewed cooperation in industrial, renewable energies, power plant, agricultural, medical, science, technology, and environment fields.

They also conferred on developments in Lebanon and support for the legal government in the country.

Yesterday, Abdullahian reiterated, during a telephone conversation with British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, the necessity of normalizing trade relations with his country, as one of the promises made by the other party within the framework of the nuclear agreement during the Vienna negotiations.
