President Al-Assad: war launched against Syria started in its first phase as a media war

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad underscored that the war launched against Syria has started in its first phase as a media war so as to prepare the ground for subsequent battles against Syria.

Interviewed by al-Baath Newspaper, the mouthpiece of al- Baa’th Arab Socialist Party (BASP), President Al-Assad added that the role of mass media means is fundamental  in defending Syria whether at the State level, homeland, and of course in defending the BASP.

H.E. President Al-Assad pointed out that al-Baa’th Newspaper has a basic role in defending the BASP doctrines and convictions, as the voice of the Baa’thist to convey his sufferings and voice and as a channel of communication between the leadership and BASP members.

In reply to a question, President Al-Assad asserted that the Arab Identity, though of the attempts as to destroy it, is still existed, as an Arab, national and moderate identity.

H.E. President Al-Assad pointed out that this very  Arab Identity needs a political, religious and cultural work as to preserve it.

President Al-Assad lashed out at ”political Islam” which, like Moslem Brotherhood, exploits religions for narrow interests, while appreciating those parties, based on true religion, which use religion in defense of the legitimate and just causes.

H.E. President Al-Assad highlighted  the role of intellectuals and national parties in boosting the youth who are committed to their moderate Islam and national identity.

Fighting corruption, criticism, and correcting mistakes are essential  pillars for the bolstering of the BASP, underscored H.E. President Al-Assad.

President Al-Assad , following the election of a new Regional Leadership for the BASP, underlined the role of the BASP Central Committee in periodic holding of the Regional Leadership accountable for its work.

“Article 8 of the Syrian  Constitution – modified recently as to abrogate the supreme role of BASP in leading the State and society- didn’t in itself keep the BASP in power; hence the BASP had been in power  10 years before adopting Article 8,” underscored H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad.

“The real power of the BASP is through interaction and popular support for its programs, and for its political, social and economic performance,” said President Al-Assad.
