Syria grieves the loss of the great Syrian iconic singer Sabah Fakhri

Damascus, (ST) – On Tuesday, Ministry of Information and the Syndicate of Syrian Artists expressed their condolences for the loss of the great Syrian iconic singer Sabah Fakhri at the age of 88.

The late artist, born in Aleppo in 1933, was awarded the Syrian Order of Merit of the Excellent Class in 2007, in recognition of his great and distinguished achievements in the service of authentic Syrian Arab art.

He also held several positions and was elected as the Head of Artists Syndicate, Vice-president of the Arab Artists Union and Director of the Syrian Song Festival. He hit the record for singing when he sang in Caracas, Venezuela, for 10 hours without a break in 1968.
