The prominent Syrian artist Sarah Shamma has met with her audiences in Zawaya Gallery in Damascus where she talked about her career over the past 25 years and her vision about life, art and Man.
The meeting entitled “25 years of professionalism” was presented by Mulham Al-Saleh and included a documentary film about the artist Sarah, from her childhood up to the present time.
Sara Shamma, is a famous artist. She was born in Damascus in 1975. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts -University of Damascus -in 1998. She moved to London in 2016 where she currently lives and works.
During the meeting, Sarah said that she draws portraiture because she loves it and believes that it could monitor human history, feelings and thoughts.
She seeks to show a painting that leaves an impact on people, who see it, in an international language.
“I believe that when a person loves himself, he is able to love others, and thus develops himself and develops his awareness, and discovers the secrets of his personality that may be important, which helps him discover those who are around him,” the artist clarified.
She believes that love is a path to knowledge.
Shamma stressed that the Syrian plastic artist is no less creative in terms of creativity than the world famous artists, but he lacks boldness, marketing skills, and communication with international technical institutions
“I was greatly affected by the war that scared me and this was reflected in my works,” she added
The artist Sarah is currently preparing for several exhibitions, including two individual ones after a year and a half, one of them on the subject of death and immortality.
