Moscow (ST): The Russian Federal Security Service arrested an extremist group in the Republic of Buryatia, which was planning to carry out attacks on a number of government institutions.
The Russian Security Service said in a statement today, reported by RIA Novosti news agency, that it had thwarted an attempt by an extremist group from the Buryatian Republic and arrested a number of people who had established a right-wing extremist group in their region with the aim of promoting extremist ideas against the authorities, security forces and the people of Central Asian countries residing in the region.
According to the statement, members of this extremist group were recruiting young people, including from local educational institutions, and spreading far-right ideology.
