MOSCOW, (ST) – Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergi Lavrov has reiterated his country’s principled stance on the attainment of political and peaceful settlement to crises in parallel with respecting countries sovereignty, independence and land integrity.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that during his meeting last night in Moscow with the Israeli “Justice” Minister Tzipi Livni, Lavrov affirmed that Russia works actively to accelerate the holding of the international conference on Syria without preconditions with the purpose of implementing the rules of Geneva statement issued in June 30 of 2012.
The ministry’s statement pointed out that Lavrov-Livni meeting focused among other things on prospects of giving the Middle East “Peace talks” between the Israelis and the Palestinians a push forward.
The need to ensure suitable environment for re-launching the Palestinian-Israeli talks through taking positive steps by both sides was also discussed during the meeting, according to the statement.
