The Syrian Book Fair entitled (Our Book is Our Future) opened at Al-Assad National Library

Damascus (ST): The Syrian Book Fair, entitled (Our Book is Our Future), was opened at Al-Assad National Library, with a different version from the International Book Fair as a result of government measures to address the Corona pandemic.

The Fair, which will run until November 6, will be attended by 48 public and private publishing houses, which presented nearly 5,000 new titles in various cultural, political, economic, intellectual and literary fields.

The children’s world occupied a special presence in the exhibition, where 11 publishing houses dedicated to them participated. The children’s book industry is undergoing modern changes at the level of printing and colors, in addition to tools and means of introduction that enrich their knowledge and contribute to attracting them to the world of reading and book acquisition.

In a press statement, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushawah, said: During ten years, culture in Syria has not stopped despite terrorism, killing, destruction and the unjust economic siege it is facing today, but it continues to give and the intellectuals continue their creativity. She pointed out that Al-Assad National Library has, over the past many years, hosted an important Fair at the Arab level, but as a result of the conditions resulting from the Corona pandemic, the Ministry preferred not to hold it for this year, but the passion for reading and the demand of those interested in knowledge and the desire of publishing houses to introduce their new publications encouraged us to set up an exhibition celebrating the Syrian book.
