Al-Kuzbari: National Delegation to the Constitutional Committee proposed principles that reflect the Syrians’ aspirations and concerns
Dr. Ahmad Al-Kuzbari, Head of the national delegation to the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva has stressed that during the sixth round of the committee, the delegation proposed some principles that reflect the aspirations and concerns of the Syrian peoples.
In a statement on Friday following the conclusion of the committee meetings, held between October 18 and 22, Al-Kuzbari said that the national delegation has always been keen on discussing the constitution between the Syrians only away from foreign interference and it has come to Geneva with a positive spirit to do everything possible to make this round a success.
“On this basis, the delegation presented a paper on “the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic as well as another paper on terrorism and extremism in which we explained our concept about the content of the two papers and answered all the inquiries,” Al-Kuzbari added.
He went on to say that the delegation engaged in a serious and open discussion with the other participating delegations, taking into consideration the suffering and the terrorist war that faced Syria during the past ten years.
He made it clear that the national delegation listened to all proposals made by some of the participants, some of which were unfortunately far from reality and they even reflected malign thoughts and aggressive agendas.
He pointed out that some participants even attempted to legitimize the Zionist, Turkish and US occupation of Syrian territories and justified the illegal unilateral coercive measures that have impoverished the Syrian people and deepened their suffering.
The national delegation clarified that from the very beginning of the round, the national delegation noticed the constant attempts by the opposition delegation to foil this round, despite the national delegation’s relentless efforts to make the round a success, Al-Kuzbari said.
He pointed out that “despite everything that happened, our delegation reaffirms that it will continue to engage positively in the discussions of the committee in a way that stresses firm commitment to the rights, sacrifices and principles of our people.”
